Louisiana updated its rules in August 2025 and now allows 25% on front side windows for all vehicles. SUV and truck owners have unrestricted rear and back side glass, which is ideal given how aggressively hot and humid Louisiana gets. The recent rule update brought the state more in line with its neighbors and gives SUV drivers a genuinely usable tint setup.

Your car's factory glass already blocks some light (usually around 70-80% VLT). When you add tint film, the combined VLT is lower than the film alone. For example, 35% film on 75% factory glass gives you about 26% combined VLT. The calculator above does this math for you.
