Ohio requires 50% on front sides for all vehicles, which is tighter than most states and significantly more restrictive than neighbors like Michigan. Both sedans and SUVs get any darkness on rear and back side windows, so there's good flexibility in the back. If you're going for a tinted look, the rear glass is where you can make it count.

Your car's factory glass already blocks some light (usually around 70-80% VLT). When you add tint film, the combined VLT is lower than the film alone. For example, 35% film on 75% factory glass gives you about 26% combined VLT. The calculator above does this math for you.
