Colorado requires 27% or more on all windows, and unusually, SUVs and trucks follow the same rules as sedans with no extra flexibility in the back. At high altitude the sun is intense and UV exposure is serious, so tint is genuinely useful here. The consistent rules across vehicle types make it simple but don't give truck owners the rear-window freedom that many other states allow.

Your car's factory glass already blocks some light (usually around 70-80% VLT). When you add tint film, the combined VLT is lower than the film alone. For example, 35% film on 75% factory glass gives you about 26% combined VLT. The calculator above does this math for you.
