Utah's rules sit at 43% on front sides, which is stricter than most of the interior west and puts it in the moderate-to-strict category. Back and rear windows are unrestricted for all vehicle types, giving you any darkness you want on the rear glass. The high-altitude sun and desert climate make UV protection a serious consideration, and going dark in the rear helps significantly.

Your car's factory glass already blocks some light (usually around 70-80% VLT). When you add tint film, the combined VLT is lower than the film alone. For example, 35% film on 75% factory glass gives you about 26% combined VLT. The calculator above does this math for you.
